Music teacher looking to keep busy working with bright young students eager to improve or begin their musical endeavors! I have a Bachelor of Music degree from San Jose State University in Music Education and have taught private lessons for over 10 years. I have also recently completed the teaching credential program in Music and teach Kindergarten through 8th grade Music for the Pioneer Union School District. Currently, I play with the Roseville Community Band. I have played the clarinet for 20 years, played with the San Jose State Wind Ensemble for 4, and studied with Dr. Janet Averett while attending SJSU. What I learned from her about teaching is invaluable, I hope to be the inspiration and encouragement to my students that she was to me. I hope to encourage them to express themselves as well teach them good practice skills. Lessons with me will focus on not just the technical aspect to playing their instrument but the creative/expressive aspect to playing music on any instrument. After all, playing an instrument is about making MUSIC! *** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to provide for themselves their instrument, a music stand, and chair. They should also have the music they are working on at school if they have some. *** Specialties *** Classical

I've been with Mikaela for the past 2 to 3 years, and she's been a wonderful instructor since. I started learning with her after playing the clarinet for about 3 years already- my skills on the clarinet have definitely improved tremendously, and the lessons have given me an edge in all my musical experiences. In addition to being a skillful clarinetist and teacher, she's also very supportive, caring, flexible schedule-wise, and has helped me grow my love for playing and music in general. She has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try new, scary things (auditions, competitions, etc) that have definitely helped me grow as a musician and a person. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a boost in skill, a great teacher, and a wonderful experience. :)
