Hi! My name is Michelle and I am a 5th-year PhD candidate in linguistics at the University of Florida. I have experience teaching Intro to Linguistics, grading for Psycholinguistics courses, and teaching Academic Spoken English for graduate students and Reading and Writing for students at the English Language Institute. I have also privately tutored students in beginning level Mandarin and accent reduction.
I have great enthusiasm for language learning and assessing how speakers pick up a language, and have experience learning languages myself. I also was a chemistry major for two years as an undergraduate, so have taken courses in calculus, chemistry, and physics.
The Linguistic Society of America (LSA) was founded in 1924 to advance the scientific study of language. LSA plays a critical role in supporting and disseminating linguistic scholarship both to professional linguists and to the general public.
