- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I love to teach students of all ages and levels who are eager to learn and wish to grow in their music. Using a wide variety of musical genres, I work with the pianist in three different areas. 1) Muscle use, for greater facility and to support tone color. 2) Reading skills, as I have a unique way of applying theory directly to the pianist's music to support the structure of the piece. This allows the pianist freedom to interpret their music their way. 3) Interpretation, to discover the poetry of the music and support the music's energy through performance. All as a means to guide the student to become their own best teacher.

I've been teaching piano for 26 years and my students have gone on to develop a love of music with life long skills that have brought them to the stage & recording studios, awards in the Musical Theater Industry, conservatories and sharing their music on a daily basis with confidence and joy! Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand how to read and comprehend music in much the same way you read a book and as time goes on you'll be able to use these skills to fuel a large repertoire in any style of music. I specialize in Classical, Pop, Broadway and New Music, typically use Faber&Faber Books for beginning pianists, and on to the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus and Main Stream Repertoire to support each style of music and have the following tools available for your lessons: Books, Worksheets, Charts and more! I love working with eager students of all ages and experience levels, including those who have years under their belt and would like to improve their skills and I can't wait to meet you!Show More

I was recommended by a friend to have Michele as a piano teacher. I was recently retired and available to follow my dreams of playing the piano. Michele more than filled my expectations as I found enjoyment playing classical and favorite tunes.
She is wonderful!
Michele is more than a fantastic musician, although she is that as well. She has a deep understanding and love of music which is demonstrated in her teaching, her composing and her playing. What sets her truly head and shoulder above all the teachers I’ve had, several as a child and three as an adult, is her ability to tailor lessons to deepen knowledge. She is very attuned to her student and will adapt her teaching techniques if a student doesn’t learn well initially. She is comfortable with a wide range of musical styles from classical and jazz to pop and even throws in a rap beat when called for. Michele would be an excellent teacher for any student, young, mature, beginner to advanced because she has both a gift for music and a gift for teaching and connecting with students.Show More
Michele is a sensitive fun loving player and composer who also brings so much kindness and understanding to her students. I know because I was one of them along with my kids. She's passionate and serious without being stuffy!
We love her.
I took piano lessons with Michele for many years as a child and a young adult, and I cannot say enough about her patience, knowledge, and poise as an instructor. Early on, she put up with me not practicing my scales and found ways to encourage me with repertoire I would find interesting and make a commitment to practice. A love of music is a lifelong benefit and my understanding and ability were cultivated through Michele's tutelage.Show More
Michele is a consummate musician… Her talent, knowledge and love of music translates to being the best music teacher I’ve ever had. For someone, as myself, in which music has played a part in all of my 68 years, she manages to open new doors to learning in an extremely meaningful manner. Technique is always a part of the lesson as well as learning and understanding the form of the notes, chords, phasing, and nuance; All that plays a part in producing a beautiful piece of music.
Her communication skills are excellent. I have had many conversations with her on the phone helping me get over a rough spot in a piece without having her with me at the piano, so I think she would be a wonderful on-line teacher. Living in a rural area of Oregon, I considered finding an on-line teacher and than was lucky enough to find her in a nearby town and her willingness to travel. Her beautiful, open and friendly demeanor would be a lovely contribution to being a Great on-line teacher. I wouldn’t hesitate for one second in hiring her in your company. any student of hers would be lucky to have her as their teacher

Three members of our household were fortunate to have Michele as a piano instructor over a ten year period prior to her leaving our area in the Northeast to the Northwest. We had a variety of abilities and interests in the types of music we liked to play. Michele was able to adapt a program of piano study to each individual. She focused on theory, technique and musical enjoyment. We played a variety of material ranging from classic, contemporary and jazz. She helped provide an encouraging and positive environment to learn piano. She took interest in other activities that my children participated in like drama, sports and religious pursuits. She kept them interested in studying piano when another might have given up. We all continue to play and express appreciation to Michele for her dedication to this art form and her willingness to share her talents and skills with us. She made a difference!Show More
