It's wonderful that you want to explore learning piano! The piano is a beautiful instrument that can be difficult to master without the right teacher. I teach the very best techniques and develop an individual program tailored to each student, so you can learn to play beautiful music!
I'm Dr. Michele Cohen, and I grew up in Salvador, Brazil. My love of piano took me to the States, where I earned a Doctorate from Indiana University and was mentored by some of the top pianists in the world. I have performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, the Brazilian Embassy in DC, and the Chicago Cultural Center. I have over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages, from beginners to career pianists.
My winning program takes the very best practices from pianists around the world, and each student will learn perfect technique developed from many years of experimenting! This allows you to play without tension, freely and beautifully at the piano. You will learn to focus on expression, crafting a sound that is uniquely your own. You will even learn the secret that makes reading music easy, using my unique interval-based method.
From the beginning, you will have access to the full range of the piano. For parents, your children will develop a love and appreciation for music. With time, you will learn the art of improvisation, building creativity and fluency. Many of my students have gone on to win scholarships and professional competitions around the country.

My name is Dr. Michele Cohen and I am a Brazilian-American Concert pianist with a passion for teaching and performing! I have a Doctoral Degree in Piano Performance from Indiana University School of Music and over 25 years of experience in the field of music. I have performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Myra Hess Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, and Ernenmusikdorf Festival in Switzerland. I am also a winner of the Artist International Auditions of New York and First Prizes in National Piano Competitions of Brazil.
