My name is Mike and I originally hail from Sydney, Australia where I began playing music at a very young age. Growing up I was surrounded by a wealth of musicianship and left-wing instrumentation, which ended up playing a key role in my development as a drummer. Since the age of 15 I have been playing professionally as a multi-instrumentalist in many different genres. Artists I have worked with include; Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Emblem3 (X-Factor), Zella Day, Troy Harley, Colby O' Donis (Grammy Award Winner), Reece Mastin (X-Factor) Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc), Casey Donovan (Australian Idol Winner) amongst others. I own and operate a recording studio in Los Angeles called PLAY;PAUSE:RECORD. I do a lot of remote recording sessions there for all over the world. I always enjoy hearing about what music you love and what makes you excited about drums. This will help to keep the lessons fun while informative at the same time. In my opinion, it is very important to make sure you don't feel as though learning drums is like homework - Its not! My goal as your teacher is to provide you with an education of MUSIC. At the end of the day, every sound we create weather it be on a a trash can or a banjo is music, hence the focus of my lessons. I love to focus on your natural ability and help you grow as fast as possible via techniques that are catered to your level of experience and ability. I use a wide range of books and teaching techniques that have helped me over the years to reach my goal as a Touring and Recording professional. I like to treat my students with the same respect I was given and pass on the knowledge that I believed played an integral roll in my success.
