Hi, and thank you for your interest! I have been teaching private saxophone lessons since 2009, and am currently available to teach lessons online, or at your home in the Las Vegas/Henderson area of Nevada. I teach students of all skill levels, from basic concepts like assembling the saxophone, sound production and beginner theory to the more advanced areas of transcribing, improvising and advanced Jazz theory. My lesson plan is designed to introduce reading music in conjunction with saxophone playing, and while I have plenty of prepared material to keep our lessons progressing quickly, I will work at your pace in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. I am currently enrolled in the Graduate College of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, pursuing a Master's in Music in Jazz Composition and Theory. I hold a BA in Music (Jazz Performance) from St. Francis Xavier University in my home province of Nova Scotia, Canada. From 2010 to 2016 I worked as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines, covering alto, tenor, and baritone sax positions and doubling on flute and clarinet. Whether you are a parent looking for a private instructor for your child, a student preparing for an audition, a hobbyist or an established musician looking to pick up another instrument, I can show you the ins and outs of my favorite instrument. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to meet you soon! Michael
