I have over 25 years experience in drum-set playing in rock, metal, jazz, praise team, 70's, and punk-electric-avant guarde genres; additionally, I have 10 years teaching experience. I have studied music formally in 4 different universities including the University of North Texas and can simplify the complexities of learning drums; I can break it down so it is easy to understand. I am here to help you fall in love with drums!!! Look forward to helping you learn. Mike *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back teacher in that I want to find out what most interests the student first, and then to emphasize that. Patience is important for self-efficacy and I never want to scare away a student. Depending on the experience level of the student I use many books: A New Breed, Stick Control, and Syncopation are some of my favorite. *** Travel Equipment *** Drum pad or set. *** Specialties *** I specialize in rock drumming but can do it all!!!

Michael is an AWESOME teacher who really cares about his students. He is laid back and loves teaching and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn Drums.

My 4th grader, Benjamin, *loved* Michael! Michael was always upbeat, enthusiastic, and a joy to be around. Sounds bogus but it's absolutely true: Michael caught Benjamin eyeing his watch during a lesson recently, to which my son responded in all honesty, "I don't want the lesson to be over." Anyway, Benjamin learned a great deal from Michael: he's great with kids, a superb drummer, and an excellent teacher. Highly recommend!
