Blues Guitar with Michael L.

I am a professional composer, songwriter, guitarist, and freelance music teacher. I graduated from the City College of New York, Magna Cum Laude. Lessons are individually tailored to whatever learning style suits the student best, at whatever pace is most comfortable and realistic. I have a set of lesson plans prepared for beginners, but eventually if there are songs or pieces the student would like to learn, I would be happy to learn them myself during my free time so you get the most out of our lessons. I teach students of all different ages, and for children especially, learning an instrument can be a lifelong tool that helps with confidence building and self-motivation. I studied guitar for 13 years, and classical composition for 9 years, in addition to being a songwriter and producer of alternative rock. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence through ear training and theory, or how to play contemporary music using lead sheets and tablature, or a mix depending on the goals and preference of the student. I love all styles of music, but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to anyone who wants to excel as a musician professionally, or as a hobby.
