    About Michael G.

    Michael Goodman has taught euphonium, tuba, music theory, composition, and music appreciation since 2011 and is currently available to teach lessons online. Michael has taught students from 5th grade through university. The composition faculty of Michigan State University has described Michael Goodman’s music as “Dramatic, humorous, and energetic.” Goodman composes for the people by combining classical music with jazz and rock music. Goodman’s influences range from György Ligeti, Jaco Pastorius, to Frank Zappa. With a diverse combination of styles, Goodman composes with the objective of creating a “bridge” between the music of artistic value and audiences of all ages. Goodman’s compositions have been performed throughout the U.S., U.K., Portugal, and Croatia by musicians, ensembles and festivals such as The Great Noise Ensemble, ensemble mise-en, Toronto Symphony Orchestra oboist Sarah Lewis, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Musique 21, University of the Pacific, Mise-en Festival, and Charlotte New Music Festival. Goodman’s Test Drive was the winner of the New Music Ensemble Category in the Michigan State University Honors Composition Competition. Goodman received his Master of Music degree and his Bachelor of Music degree in music composition at Michigan State University while studying under Ricardo Lorenz, Jere Hutcheson, Charles Ruggiero, and Mark Sullivan. In addition, Goodman has studied under Joel Hoffman, Armando Bayolo, and Marc Mellits. Currently residing in Modesto, CA, Goodman is Goodman currently resides in Modesto, CA as a composer/arts administration freelancer.
