I've first started playing guitar in 2010 thanks to the excuse of in-school lessons, but have since moved on to learning everything by ear. That allowed me to later pick up percussion, classical strings, piano, wind, vocals etc, (although I refuse to teach anything I'm not confident in). This knack for music lead me to considering teaching since it will pay far more than my current job.
To give an idea about how I do as an instructor, I'm adaptable, I can handle special needs (I have aspergers), I take a minute to understand what we are struggling with and I believe in patience as much as I do efficiency
I will not coddle and I will not demean. As a teacher, I believe that it's not my job to be your parent, but the one helping you progress as a musician. I want you to walk out of each session knowing that you've improved. Hopefully, one day you will be able to keep learning without me!
I first learned guitar when I was 10 and it changed my life. The opportunity I've been given to change the lives of the kids at camp has both given me insight on how to interact with young ones but also how to encourage them to learn.
I've been writing my own riffs and the riffs of my other band mates since 2015. I currently compose the parts for lead/rhythm/acoustic guitar, bass, synth, vocal melodies and offer inspiration to my drummer as he does to me. I also work as lyricist.
These credentials will give an idea of my experience as a songwriter and composer for students of that interest.
Micah knows a lot about strumming. We spent a few times taking songs and remaking them for ukulele and I sorta know how to do it on my own now!
HE TAUGHT ME TO WRITE STUFF LIKE WEEZER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU MICAH!
I like him
I wasn't very good at string instruments and other percussion instruments, but I'm getting the hang of the Ukulele thanks to you. I still need to improve but that's why you're here. Thank you bunches! <3
I really like him as a teacher and a musician. He knows a lot of weird or new songs that I never heard of. He ACTUALY CAN learn songs in like 5 minutes. The correct cords, alternate chords for those chords... it's kinda weird to think that's possible. I've played for about 3 years already so i come to him to figure out new songs. Oh. He can learn the tuning of songs too. stuff like drop D, flat tuning, capo amd all that. I tell people about him already but he wanted me to write something so yeah+ Read More
This guy's hands fly when he's playing bass! He says to keep the details low profile but there are so many things I've learned with him. There's a cool tuning trick he shows everyone whether they pay or not and I respect him for that. I guess it's a credibility thing. Totally give him a shot. He deserves the money... more than what he ask for at least.+ Read More
This guy is amazing! He taught me about double dropping, how to sync beats, transitioning through tempo ranges, blending genres together, how to transition from one key to the next without following the color wheel thingy... I've used him for a year now and with all the new music we find, it's fun to just see what we can do together.+ Read More
