My name is Mendeleyev (people call me Lev). I am a singer-songwriter who grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. playing in different bands, performing in theater companies and making short films. I graduated from Berklee College of music in 2013 with a degree in professional music. I took 85 different courses in over 4 years with an emphasis on songwriting and performing. My principle instrument was Guitar but I have over a decade of training in EACH Piano, Bass, Drums, and Voice. I have been taking lessons most of my life and teaching for for almost 10 years. I believe becoming a multi-instrumentalist is one of the most important things for any musician! I am offering an education in any/all of these instruments as well as theory, songwriting, ear-training, improvisation, and stage performance. Even if you just want to learn a song, I can help you do that on your own. Feel free to ask me a question if you would like more info. Let's jam!

My experience has been totally amazing. I'd never played any instruments before and didn't expect to pick anything up very quickly since I'm older and I've held judgments about when the right time to pick up musical skills. But when I sat down for the first time at the piano, Mendeleyev (Lev for short) gave me a few different techniques both kinetically and visually to work with right off the bat. Learning in multiple ways helped me retain what he showed me so I could begin to build from there everytime we played from then on. With the drum kit he let me play freely and then brought my awareness to what my hands were doing and walked me through simplifying and keeping beats. I think he's very in touch with intuitively guiding students in a way that doesn't criticize or judge. His patience and encouragment has been so helpful in allowing me to let go of my fear that what I'm playing can't sound good or improve; and the fantastic thing is that I am seeing improvement all the time! I would definitely recommend Lev as an instructor. I can't choose more than one instrument for lessons, but he's helped me with piano, percussion, singing and even a bit of ukulele and guitar.

Mendeleyev is a great guy! I've learned so much from him over the years about fingerpicking, rhythm, and groove. He is optimistic, patient, and an overall great teacher whether you are learning guitar, bass, piano, or voice!

If you want to lean music, then work with this guy! He's good-natured, extremely supportive, and actually a genius. I promise you, no matter who you are, what you play, or at what level you play it, Lev will have a lot to teach you.
