Hello! My name is Melissa, and above all, I want my students to love music. Whether you have been singing for years, or you are just trying it out, I will help customize your lessons so that you can learn exactly what it is you are interested in. My students will learn proper breathing, posture, vocal placement but also acting, performing, and music theory. Students wishing to sing classical music will learn to sing in Latin, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and more! If you are wanting to learn pop, jazz, or compose your own music, we will focus on contemporary music. I come from a unique background in that while I got my start in classical music and opera, I spent several years as a musical theatre director, directing shows such as Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and more. If auditioning for school plays or getting into college music programs is something you are interested in, I will help to know exactly what audition panels are looking for and prepare a strong performance. If you are an adult who is wanting to improve your singing, then we will create a plan to accomplish all of your singing goals! I have a decade of experience teaching voice, piano, and guitar, and I am a licensed k-12 music teacher who has taught choir and musical theater in the school system. While many teachers do not still perform, I sing weekly at church where my husband is the worship leader. Above all, I am looking forward to helping you become the best musician you can be.
