Flute with Melanie K.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have been teaching children and adults in both a private & group lesson format for the past 20+ years. I place a strong emphasis on ensuring my students play/perform in a relaxed, comfortable body position, maintain a warm, round sound, have a firm understanding of both rhythm and note reading skills, and have fun playing at the same time! I also enjoy teaching my students music theory, ear training & sight singing, to improve their musicianship. Students will participate in yearly recitals. I am currently serving as Principal Flute and Personnel Manager of the Vallejo Symphony and Symphony Napa Valley & have also performed with the Boise Philharmonic, Marin Symphony, Berkeley Symphony and other orchestras throughout Northern CA. My principal instructors have included Tim Day, Mark Sparks & Laurie Sokoloff.
