I am a professional teacher as well as cellist of 10 years and violinist of 4 years. I have a degree in Music Education with an Instrumental Emphasis. I student taught in Middle and Elementary Orchestra, have coached numerous small string ensembles, and I currently teach Elementary Music. I have experience with learners of a variety of styles and ages. Three words to describe my teaching style are: positive, patient, and firm.

I am currently accepting new students and hoping to expand my studio. Whether you would like to keep maintain skills for casual playing, progress rapidly with year-round weekly lessons, or prepare for an audition, I would love to work with you.

I am not currently accepting students that I must travel to and I do not teach lessons on Saturdays.
I teach online or in my home in Overland Park, KS, Sunday through Friday.
Please contact me with any questions.

As an adult beginner, I was very intimidated and fearful when I first took on cello lessons. My first online lesson with Megan was my first cello lesson EVER. She is a patient teacher who delivers high quality lessons. At the end of every lesson, I knew I received more than my money's worth. What really impressed me is that Megan really works to meet me where I'm at, not the other way around. She helps me with tips and techniques to support and challenge me as a student. I would recommend Megan for cello students out there! Beginners, you're in good hands!

I'm still very grateful that I found Megan and feel blessed to have this opportunity to work with her. Today my irritation with my progress was very high heading into the lesson but she rightly met it with patience and compassion, trying to understand my complaint and adjust the lesson plan to fit my needs. I'm realizing that learning to read, write, speak, and listen to music is not an even process. I'm having growth spurts with feelings of exuberance and then flutter to utter confusion. Overall I think that's probably pretty normal, for me anyway, because I care so much about what I'm doing. This is not an easy topic. I hope to feel more comfortable with the parts of it that are burdening me by this time next year; I'll probably be overwhelmed by something out of my scope of the moments consideration like composing music I want to play and hear. Thank you Megan.

I loved it! We're already working on combinations of musical notations and arrangements of notes. It's what I really needed and wanted from a teacher. I added another lesson weekly to help me accelerate my learning.

I have taken three lessons with Megan so far. Megan is highly professional but friendly. She has exceptionally good ears, even when the lessons are conducted online. I just picked up viola a couple of years ago. As an adult viola learner, I appreciate Megan's style. She knows that we (adult learners) will improve with practice. She combines the basics (scales), techniques, and tone in each lesson. It seems that she sees my strengths and areas of improvements and adjusts her teaching style to match my skills. I highly recommend Megan to viola adult and child learners.
