Megan has been teaching private lessons part-time since 2004 and is currently available to teach lessons at a public location in Dallas, TX (such as a coffee shop) or is also available for online classes. Megan has helped students from ages 6 to 70 years of age. She has a passion for knitting and makes it easy and fun for anyone to learn. She is also skilled at troubleshooting pesky patterns, dropped stitches, or whatever your dilemma might be.
Megan grew up learning to knit with the help of her talented mother and her best friend. She started a knitting club and taught beginning knitting to high school students. Megan was also a knitting designer and instructor at a local boutique knitting shop for three years. Megan is available to teach groups upon request. Her teaching style is encouraging, creative, uplifting, and patient and she looks forward to helping new and experienced students dive into their next project.
What you can expect if you are just starting out?
If learning online you will need a set of needles and practice yarn. You will learn how to choose the correct needles and yarn, how to read labels, how to make a slip knot, how to cast on, how to hold your needles, and finally how to knit and purl.
Second lessons include how to check your gauge, read a pattern, how to increase and decrease your stitches, how to join yarns, how to cast off or bind off your stitches, and how to weave in your ends.
Other lessons are available for blocking and seaming.
As a key holder, Megan quickly progressed from a teller to a designer, instructor and key holder of this unique boutique knitting shop. She maintained responsibility for greeting customers, troubleshooting projects, quick on-demand instruction, and hosting and teaching at children's birthday parties.
