I am 24 years old, a Philadelphia, PA native now living in Los Angeles who is enjoying a career as a performer, writer, teacher, and student of music. I have a bachelors degree in Jazz Bass Performance from Temple University and am earning my Master's at USC Thornton. I have years of experience playing and teaching other styles of music including classical, rock, Latin, blues, etc. While at Temple, I served as the music theory tutor for 2 years and worked with a blind student every week. I am a patient, encouraging teacher and enjoy finding new and creative ways to help my students succeed. Since 2010, I have taught private lessons and tutored a diverse array of students. My promise to all students: I will pass on the love for and dedication to music that my teachers gave to me. I will always be ready to give 110% percent in my lessons and expect the same from you. Whether you want to be playing stadiums in 6 months or just want to learn your favorite songs, I will tailor lessons to fit YOUR needs and always give the type of supportive, honest feedback that I think you need. ***Lesson Details*** I like to start off by having the student tell me what kind of music s/he is interested in, what goals (if any) s/he has, and assess how I can best use my experience to help him/her to succeed. I always suggest that students practice every day, whether its for 15 minutes or 5 hours, to get the most out of every lesson. ***Studio Equipment*** Gallien Krueger "Microbass" 150 watt bass amplifier Fender P Bass Deluxe Juzek Upright Bass Stereo, records, CDs and recording capabilities ***Travel Equipment*** Upright & bass guitar JBL Bluetooth speaker/recordings ZOOM stereo recording device Pencils/manuscript paper ***Performance Experience*** Notable Venues: The Kimmel Center, World Café Live, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Berks County Jazz Festival, Chris’ Jazz Café, PA Convention Center (Philadelphia metro); Carnegie Hall, Somethin’ Jazz Club (NYC); Bimhuis, North Sea Jazz Club (Amsterdam); B-flat (Berlin) Notable Artists: Bobby Watson, Joanna Pascale, Tim Warfield, Byron Lanham, Dan Monaghan, Josh Richman, Greg Kettinger , Conjunto Philadelphia, Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five, Tim Janis

Max was able to step in and make an immediate difference in the quality of my daughter's bass playing. He is patient, methodical, and very encouraging. I highly recommend Max.

After the first lesson, it's clear that Max is a great player and really attuned to helping me achieve my goals on the bass. I'm really excited to study with him!

Max is incredibly patient, kind, and knowledgeable. When something doesn't work, he finds different ways of presenting the material. He gave me a lot of effective tools to work through things I'm not very good at. He's just a really good teacher!
