Maurissa (AKA Missy) has been playing professionally since she was 16 years old. She started with the violin when she was in the fifth grade and expanded her musical knowledge to other instruments such as bass, guitar, piano, ukulele, and drums once she got into high school.
In her freshman year of high school she joined her first band, Darkhorse, playing bass with them in American Legions, Moose lodges, VFW Halls, and many other venues.
Once she gained the necessary experience playing live, she was hired by countless bands and began doing session work on the violin and bass.
Teaching being her passion, she began giving music lessons to her classmates when she was still in middle school. It didn't take long before she was teaching the children of family friends and fellow church goers. And now, with many years of teaching experience, she is playing and teaching music full time.
Missy's Music School is a small, home business that I began when I was still in high school. I have taught dozens of children and adults how to play violin, bass, and guitar. While I was going to college, I took a short break from teaching and have recently begun running my business again.+ Read More
In my senior year of high school, I volunteered at a local elementary school as an assistant. I worked with the special needs children, playing music and doing art with them.
First time I had lessons where the teacher did not have a ukulele
Asked for Hawaiian strumming which she showed me the last 5 minutes of the last lesson

We've known Missy for years and she helped get both of my sons started learning guitar and violin. My sons always looked forward to class and they had so much fun learning together. Now when they hang out and start jamming together it usually turns into a teaching moment 😉 Teaching is what Missy is made to do!+ Read More
