My kids love him. He was a great teach just schedule issues caused us to find a new teacher
Matt has a lot of ideas and I can gain a lot in taking one lesson from him
My experience was phenomenal, i learned so much in only 45min!!! I recommend take lessons to everyone, I guarantee you will love it as much as i do.
I cannot say enought wonderful things about Matt. We were looking for an instructor that could do it all; lessons in guitar, singing, songwriting, keyboards... a tall order, it seemed. But we were so very lucky to have found Matt, because he does it all - and more! He approached working with my son with great enthusiasm, and totally customized his lessons according to my son's interests - which are a bit ecclectic. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but also really knows how to work with kids and bring out the best in them. My son absolutely loves his lessons with Matt, and looks forward to them each week. Thank you, Matt, for all your wonderful work!!+ Read More
Very patient with the children. He seems knowledgeable about multiple instruments.

My son really enjoys the guitar class. He is learning a lot; even doing homework. My husband said that he might sign up for a session :)))...
Matt is a fantastic instructor! The lessons were fun, creative, and absolutely increased my knowledge of the guitar as well as inspired me to play and practice more. I think that is ultimately one of the best qualities of a music instructor, that they make the subject fun and inspire in their students a hunger to practice and learn. I hope to take more lessons from Matt in the future. I would recommend Matt to anyone and everyone. I've never had a better time learning something new!+ Read More
He is very professional and talented.
Matt was perfect! Better than I anticipated it would be. Got straight to work, no time was wasted. Usually when I have a first lesson in anything new that I'm learning the teacher takes that whole lesson talking about logistical theoretical fluff, but with Matt it was like learning on the job; all hands on. I immediately learned new chords, tricks and finger styles that I had only heard of in passing. Granted that could probably be because I'm somewhat considered "intermediate" at guitar, but nonetheless I felt like I learned more in that one lesson with Matt then I learned with some teachers in three! Also an all around motivational coach to have!
Thanks again Matt, awesome lesson, looking forward to the next one!
Matt is a great and very supportive teacher. I never played a string instrument and he helped me to start with a fun learning experience. I highly recommend Matt!
Matt is great! Easy to get along with, and always had plenty of content to help with my goals. Very accommodating with my schedule.
Matt's the best! He came prepared with new info to each lesson, was flexible about what I wanted to learn and was extremely knowledgeable in technique and theory. I would recommend him to anyone!
Matt is great with my 13 year old son who is a bit on the quiet side. I see him making great progress with the piano and really enjoys learning with Matt! Matt has a great ability to connect with students, provides encouragement as needed, is patient, and carefully explains things in a manner you will remember them. I highly recommend him!+ Read More
Matt is very good with my 6 year old son. He manages to get him to loosen up and have fun while learning. His pacing also works well for my son, not too slow yet not too fast. My son always looks forward to his lesson with Matt. My only complaint is the broken doorbell, especially since its Winter. Other than that, I think Matt is a great teacher and very good with kids.+ Read More
Really great teacher, encouraging, understanding, just perfect!
Matt is a great instructor. I've never played an instrument and have learned so much in just a few lessons so far. He's dedicated and flexible, generous with his time, and makes every lesson equally instructive and fun. Looking forward to many more!+ Read More
Matthew was very nice and patient and explained everything very well.
My son has really enjoyed his lessons with Matthew and I can confidently recommend him.
Matt has a fun approach to teaching my son, who is 11. The lessons are enjoyable for my son and Matt is very patient, yet challenges him when necessary. He sets clear expectations for practice and is very approachable.
Matt also has great communication with me (the parent) in regard with status updates in addition to reviewing with me what was involved in their lesson time together.
My son says Matt is his favorite piano teacher that he's ever had!
Heading into my third lesson tonight, and I can't wait.
I was a bit nervous, as a 28 year-old novice guitar player, that lessons would be awkward or that I'd be learning to play songs appropriate for a very young student.
This was not the case. Matt is a great teacher, very accommodating, and will adjust his lessons according to what you would like to learn to make them more fun and more productive
I would highly recommend him for any age or skill level.
Matthew was amazing with my boys. They hit off right away.
Was on time, informative and my son likes him. Thumbs up

Matthew is an excellent teacher. He makes the lessons easy to understand and makes it fun. He is punctual, down to earth and has a great personality on top of his awesome teaching skills. I would definitely recommend him especially for beginners like myself. I'm looking forward to the next lesson already!!+ Read More
Matt is great! I knew absolutely nothing about the guitar and I was able to play chords and such after our first 45 minute lesson! He's a fantastic teacher and extremely accommodating =)
Matthew was great. Quickly picked up on my strengths and weaknesses and found a way to address both.
He has also been very accommodating with my schedule.
Looking forward to future classes with him.
Matt's really a terrific teacher, he's making sure my voice is as healthy as possible and he is working it so that my falsetto is as strong as my lower register. No other teacher has worked with me on that before and Matt makes sure I know exactly what's going on with my vocal cords when we work on that. Matt is also great because he's given me a lot of material I'm not familiar with for my audition book, which is a huge help for me. I'm incredibly glad that I started taking lessons with Matt!+ Read More
Mathew is a great guitar teacher, he's patient, kind, friendly & most importantly my daughter adores him. She looks forward to her lessons & he's extremely talented. He encourages her to do her best & she loves playing the guitar.
Matt is the best. I have been taught by several private tutors over the years (singing and guitar) and none of them approached Matt’s level. He is a born teacher. With his infectious enthusiasm, amazing talent, and great patience, he raised me above what I thought I was capable of. I am very pleased that I chose Matt and I hope to continue with him for a long time to come.+ Read More
Matthew is a born musician, he has an intuitive understanding of music and theory but is patient enough to be able to translate it to those of us who struggle with this aspect of musicianship. I find myself learning very quickly and inspired to pick up and play my baritone ukulele every day.+ Read More
He's great and very positive.
Previously my kid showed only mild interest in practicing, but after only a couple lessons with Matt he's now playing on his own at length. It really makes a difference to have someone like Matt who will work with students to find music they like and want to play.+ Read More
I've been playing guitar for about 10 years, but I haven't significantly progressed in a long time. I'm self taught, with very little theory background, and was getting caught up in seemingly complex chord structures, and figuring out best practices for bringing my playing skills to the next level. I cannot speak more highly of my first lesson with Matt. He is really patient, and genuinely excited about teaching and figuring out how best to make a concept stick for his students.
My class with Matt reminded me that lessons aren't just for beginners--sometimes, a good teacher is all you need to take your skills to the next level! Definitely recommend him for any of your lesson needs, at any skill level.
Matt was really amazing. I love how he explained everything to the best of his ability, and was really patient with me. He's clearly a really seasoned writer and musician with lots of familiarity with the software he's teaching me to use.
In addition, he goes above and beyond what is needed, from traveling to my home, accommodating my schedule, to even letting me know it's OK to email him with questions outside of the lesson.
Generous and knowledgeable, I highly recommend Matt!
Excellent experience. Just bought more lessons with Matthew!
Matthew is extremely proffessional and friendly. He taught me a lot in just one lesson.
I am very satisfied with my lessons. Matt gave me confidence and put me on the right track to practice more by myself. As a teacher he is extremely patient and senses what you want to learn. He gave me a lot of great tips, prepared the lessons based on my needs and assigned great homework. His lessons are always full of new material and never slow. He pushes you to learn as much as you can and always asks if you're comfortable with it. One more important note is that he is a very kind person! I highly recommend him!+ Read More
Matthew is an excellent instructor. He is patient and is awesome at building confidence. I highly recommend him for any age student.
My son has been taking piano lessons for 4 years and I have never seen him more enthusiastic about piano until now. Matt has a wonderful way with kids and is in tune with what my son's interests and actually pursues them. My son now bops when he practices and not just slumps down by the keyboard. I am also pleased to see that Matt is not just asking my son to play the songs, but to really connect with them starting with rhythm. I can't wait to see how my grows as a musician!+ Read More
Before working with Matt I'd played guitar for about ten years. With Matt's instruction, I've been able to work on not just fundamental skills, but also understanding more complex music theory and developing more advanced playing technique. I've made a ton of progress in a very short time, and have really enjoyed it. As a bonus, Matt has been super flexible with my somewhat unpredictable schedule. I highly recommend working with him.+ Read More
If you're looking to augment your musical capacity, Matt's probably your best bet for value in the Brooklyn area!
While I'm a complete beginner to Acoustic Guitar, I have previous musical experience that I told Matt about at our first lesson, which he is refreshing and building on in addition to teaching me the new instrument. He's an excellent listener and an intuitive teacher - often answering questions I have before I ask them. His approach is laid-back and friendly, but he's not afraid to challenge my abilities. By the third lesson he taught me a simple song, and had me re-teach it to him challenging me to learn the chord progression, remember lyrics, sing along and repeat the information I had just learned to help it sink in - an excellent, unexpected and fun exercise. I highly recommend Matt for serious students who want to push themselves.+ Read More
Matthew is an Excellent ukulele teacher! As a beginner, I was able learn seven chords (C, Em, F, G, Am, D, & Dm) in two (1 hour lessons), how to strum, tune and hold my ukulele. Matthew is encouraging, patient, works at your pace and makes learning fun. He challenges you to learn and is very knowledgeable about music.
I look foward to continuing my lessons with Matthew.
With confidence, I highly recommend him as your music instructor! :)
Matthew has been wonderful with my little Brother Joel (who runs on energizer batteries). He's patience is his virtue. I look forward to watching my brother grow from a total beginner to future star!
I got singing lessons for Nevaeh because she had to audition for J.H.S. Matthew has bought something out of her I didn't know she had. He taught her how to project her voice, gave her tips on breathing and he has done much more. I never intended to continue lessons after her audition, but I now intend to continue her lessons. I would recommend Matthew to any one I know that needs singing lessons. He is a excellent teacher and a fine young man.+ Read More
Matt is great. He clearly knows a lot about music and music theory and imparts that knowledge during our lessons. It is hugely helpful to learn why you are going what you are doing as you learn, not just how to do it. He is also incredibly patient. I am unfortunately not naturally gifted and often struggle with correct finger placement and graceful or consistent strumming and he comes up with several different ways to approach a problem I am having until we find something that works for me. Now, if only I could find more time to practice, I could become a student worthy of the teacher!+ Read More
I am so please to have Matthew as my 10 years old son’s music teacher. Matthew shows great passionate for music. He is fun, motivating, flexible and understanding for for my son. He inspire him to world of music. Thanks for his patient and encouragements, my son had transformed from refused to open his mouth to confident enough to tell people he sings really well lately. Matthew helped him to build up his self esteem. Excellent communication and quick respond to questions and concerns. A+ teacher!+ Read More

From the very first meeting with Matt when he conducted a personal interview with my 12 Year old son, he was a warm, honest, and encouraging presence. Quickly his lessons became a highlight of my sons week as he continues to enjoy them.
He finds new ways of challenging and pushing my son outside his comfort zone as an actor. He has a way of pinpointing your weaknesses and discomforts as a performer, and rather than play it safe and ignore them, he will bring them to light so you can challenge and overcome those weaknesses. Only like comedy? You better believe he'll challenge you with a gut-wrenching monologue. Scared to death of being silly in front of people? You will get over it quickly in the safe atmosphere of his class that is conducive to experimenting and pushing your limits.
Already after a few lessons, my son has developed a strength and confidence as an actor and I see a big difference in my sons acting and he has been getting bigger and longer parts in films . I am very proud of the results I see and the improvements that Matt has made with my son and will continue using him for a long time.
Matt is a very patient, caring, kind, astute teacher. He has been teaching my 15 year old daughter for a fewer months now and we are extremely thankful for all his work.
He begins the lessons by asking you what you want to learn, where you're coming from and how you'd like to proceed, how much time you have to practice and tailors his lessons and recommendations to what you can do, without ever making you feel guilty for being out of practice and if you're busy like me, that's much appreciated.
Matt is very knowledgeable about different types of music and also continues his own training which makes him an even better teacher. I see a big progress in my daughter and am happy she enjoys learning from such a great music instructor.
Matt is a really good person and teacher. He helped me a lot not only with the guitar, but he also came with me to buy one and was at my disposition for many things. He was very elastic with me being late sometimes. He is very good at teaching, very patient and you can see that he is really dedicating himself to it and enjoys what he is doing! Matt number 1 :)+ Read More
I had the privilege of working with Matt in a vocal coaching. When it comes to music, Matt just gets it. He has an overflowing wealth of knowledge and passion. Matt had a number of suggestions that helped me revamp my musical theatre audition book. When it comes to working on music, he has the rare ability to listen to a piece of music and articulate what it needs musically and dramatically. We played around with a couple of pieces and he was able to transpose a song at the drop of the hat to find which key best suited my voice! Matt was also generous enough to let me sing through some of his newer compositions and add my twist to some of his characters. Matt is incredibly professional and fun to work with. I highly recommend him!+ Read More
Matt was a real pleasure to learn from and always found a way to keep my lessons fun and exciting. I'm now very comfortable sight reading in the bass cleft and even a bit of treble as well. He had such a great ear for music and was easily able to pick out an entire bass line from a song just by listening to it once. He really inspired me to want to pursue songwriting and even got me to pick up a guitar for the first time. He's very passionate about what he does and he's a great instructor for anyone who wants to improve their musical ability. I'd highly recommend him for anyone looking to learn more about music and enjoy doing it!+ Read More
As an actor/singer, I've had the pleasure of working with Matt on numerous occasions for many years and he is truly one of the best. From a teaching perspective, Matt is a very patient and knowledgeable instructor/coach and always takes the time to make sure his students understand and are comfortable with their material. I've worked with him in personal coaching/rehearsal sessions as well as seen him direct/teach children and he is fantastic with any age group. If you are looking for a teacher who is skilled in everything from instrumental/vocal lessons, music directing, writing, musical theater, accompaniment, vocal coaching, etc (and has the education and passion to back it up), then definitely contact Matt; you will not be disappointed!+ Read More
I worked with Matt under a time restraint. He did a wonderful job, providing me with basically a guitar intensive over the course of two months. Matt taught me all my chords in just a few lessons. He didn't need to push me to practice. My interest was sparked from lesson #1.
He's a really great motivator and a real asset for any aspiring vocalists who would like to learn an instrument (he's a vocalist himself).
