I am an amateur fighter experienced in Historic European Martial Arts (HEMA), SCA, Kendo, MMA, Krav Maga, Aikido and others. I have been a student of martial arts for over a decade. Longsword students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. While the historical documents teach a tradition, every student has a unique style; I teach students the foundations and allow them to find what works best for them in order to unlock their own individual style. I can help any student to fight with freedom, confidence, and expression. I teach sword combat primarily geared to introductory experience levels for all different ages. I can teach students to fight historically and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to combine different traditions for purposes of competitions, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. I am passionate about swordplay and I love to mentor students who want to become effective, dynamic fighters. My personal passion is a hybridized system (similar to what MMA has done to traditional martial arts) but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better fighter!
