Music Theory with Matthew C.

I am a professional oboist, conductor, composer, and educator. I earned my master's degree from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University. I studied oboe with Lisa Kozenko (New York Philharmonic, Mannes School of Music) and Stephen Secan (Columbus Symphony Orchestra). As an oboist, I have performed as second oboe with the Eastern Festival Orchestra and Brazosport Symphony Orchestra, and utility oboe and English horn with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra. I have performed in masterclasses with internationally celebrated guest artists Alex Klein and the Imani Winds. As an oboe teacher, I have taught all levels of students from beginning to graduate level. As an educator, I take each student's individual learning style into consideration in order to best serve the student and achieve maximum learning and retention. As a conductor, I recently made my international debut with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Saint-Petersburg (Russia), and have also conducted the Eastern Festival Orchestra, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Bach Festival Baroque Orchestra and Chorus, Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana, and recently served as the Director of Orchestras at Brazoswood High School. I also frequently collaborate with international guest artists of the classical music world, and also assisted on the latest studio album of Broadway star Sutton Foster.
