I started playing guitar at the age of 17. Before playing guitar I started playing clarinet and piano. Finally settling on guitar as the instrument preferred, I was introduced to jazz blues guitarist Mark Stefani creator of VisonMusic.com. Under Mark Stefani's teaching, I was able to grasp a full concept of music. In the mid to late 70's I went on to play with Bay Area local bands such as Hot Sizzling Soul Band, Grand Theft Soul Band and HP Riot Band. In the 80's I formed a group named Mellow Magic consisting of Myself - Guitar, Marvin D. -Vocals and Bernardo B. - Sax. I started teaching music in 1990 from my home, and taught off and on depending on my work schedule and load. From 2007-2011 I worked with local bands such as Jazzmatazz, Take Five Again, and Jazz4U. Presently, I work with local Jazz guitarist Hristo Vitchev, a wonderful jazz guitarist and composer. After recently retiring from being an engineer, I want to devote more time to teach my music and to work with my current jazz group-The Jason Craven Trio. I have recorded two CD's with Cdbaby.com. The first one is "The Last Room" which was completed in 2006, is a single CD and has a mellow guitar oriented over nice changes. The second CD "Say it From the Heart" contains five very nice mellow jazz tunes recorded in 2007. Both CDs are inspired by such artists like Paul Hardcastle, Boney James, and George Benson. My favorite artists are George Benson, Kenny Burrell, John Scofield, Pat Metheny and Norman Brown. *** Lesson Details *** I bring 40 years of experience into a wonderful teaching concept. I teach from beginners to advanced students in the Pacifica area. For the beginner I have a method of teaching which is rewarding and fun. The more advanced student, I will outline a program that will help that student reach the next level. I am very passionate about teaching and helping students achieve their goals. *** Studio Equipment *** Living room with guitars, amps, chairs and music stand. Parents can wait in living room and sit in on lessons.
