Hello, I'm looking for dedicated students who have a deep desire to succeed in music. Taking lessons from me means that you'll be getting individualized instruction from a teacher with an excellent combination of teaching experience and real world success in music. I've taught as a licensed and background checked teacher in the Salt Lake City area public schools for over 8 years, and at Salt Lake Community College. I hold two music degrees: a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Utah, and a Master of Music Technology from Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis, where I earned my degree online. I'm active as a producer, composer and band leader too. I've led the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble since 2009; we recently signed with Philip Glass's record label and released our fourth record with them. As a composer my music has been released by numerous record labels and publishers and has generated over 150,000 sales and streams. I encourage you to get in touch if you have any questions.

Matt has been amazing. He's an absolute expert and has a great teaching style. I'd recommend him to anyone. For real, it's been awesome learning so much and he's made me a much better musician.

Matt does a great job of adapting his instructions to match where the students knowledge is currently. I started taking lessons from him after spending a few years learning bits and pieces of ableton on my own. Matt quickly figured out where I was, what I can do to improve what I've learned, and helped me make steps moving forward. No matter you're experience level I can't recommend learning from Matt enough. I leave every lesson with so much more knowledge than before that I can immediately start applying to my own work and work flow. Thank you Matt! Looking forward to many more lessons.

I have done several "music production" lessons with Matt online. He is extremely flexible, which has been a big plus for me since I live in Denver and use Studio One 4. Even though his expertise lies in Ableton, the lessons have still been helpful as a Studio One 4 user. Matt is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He has been able to satisfactorily answer all of my questions. During our lessons, we will work on songs that I am developing. He will listen to the track and suggest areas of improvement. Rather than just telling me what to change, however, he always explains why it would be helpful to make those changes. I've already noticed that I am independently making those improvements in my songs since meeting with Matt. While I can't speak for Matt's other areas of expertise, I would highly recommend taking lessons with Matt for any production/mixing needs!
