    About Matt M.

    Matt holds a Texas Teaching Certificate in Theatre Arts (which he taught for 13 years of his 18 year career in public education), and directed over 50 stage productions, including: Sweeney Todd, James and The Giant Peach, The Who's Tommy, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Noises Off, Monty Python's Spamalot, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, The Hobbit, and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe (RCP Best Director). He was named Outstanding University Interscholastic League Sponsor in 2016, led the UIL One Act Play The Insanity of Mary Girard to Area Tournament in 2014, and directed the 2016 Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards Best Costume Design winning production of The Addams Family. Professionally, he appeared in the feature film When The Bough Breaks (opposite Morris Chestnut), worked in the independent film projects County Line and The Beat Hotel, and appeared in regional commercials for Taco Bueno, The Home Depot, and Zaxby’s. On stage, he appeared as St. Jimmy in the Regional Premiere of Green Day's American Idiot, as Bill Clinton/Howard Stern/Vladimir Putin in the original cast of the musical Citizen Drumpf (The Column Awards Best Musical Nominee 2017), Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, Dr. Parker in Bat Boy, and Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (RCP Best Actor). He is the owner/instructor at The Mitchell Actor Studio, where he teaches Meisner technique to young actors ages 7-18. He continues to study Meisner technique under Michele Condrey at REACT Studios and is SAG-AFTRA Eligible. He is represented by The Campbell Agency of Dallas, Texas.

    I was in charge of teaching six fifty minute class periods per day (entry level Theatre Arts, advanced Theatre Production, beginning and advanced Technical Theatre) while also managing all administrative, creative, and management aspects of the department. I also managed our 1500 seat performing arts complex, which hosted many fine arts performances, school district events, community events, and touring productions. I directed over fifty stage productions in my thirteen years as a member of the theatre department. I was named Outstanding University Interscholastic League Sponsor in 2016 for my direction of One Act Play competition.
