    About Matt G.

    4.8
    (46)
I went to Pensacola Catholic High and graduated in 2003. I then attended and Auburn University, where I became a Christian, and graduated in 2007. Once I finished, I went overseas to teach English and do missions. I taught in Thailand from 2003-2007 and then in China from 2012-2016. I have been teaching since that time and am back home now to get my Master's degree in TESOL. I enjoy teaching people and watching their confidence grow as they learn new skills and develop new abilities. My teaching style is relaxing but challenging; as much as possible, I encourage and motivate students to have a love of learning, not just of this subject but of learning in general.

GL101x: Leading Change: Go Beyond Gamification with Gameful Learning

    Jul, 2017

    University of Michigan through EdX

In this course I explored how to use core ideas from well-designed games and motivation theory to design an instructional environment where students are deeply engaged, work hard and take intellectual risks, and are resilient as they work towards success. We answered questions such as: What makes games such good learning environments? What kind of “game” is school (and how can we make it a better game)? How do we support teachers in growing their skills for gameful learning? What is the relationship between motivation and learning?
