Hello! My name is Matina Banks and I am a ballerina and storyteller. I've been teaching children of all ages for over 15 years and really enjoy working one-on-one with students. I currently have some openings for private online lessons and would love to share my love of learning with some new students. I've seen how much working one-on-one really helps establish good listening skills and self confidence which can make a significant difference with other group learning environments like school or group lessons. In addition, so many schools now integrate a technology component into their curriculum so doing online lessons really helps students get a head start! For me as a teacher, no matter what subject I am teaching, it is really important to me to focus on a child's personal development. Not everyone goes on to become a professional chess player or an artist but what I try to include as an ongoing theme in all my lessons are life skills that can be applied to any environment, whether it's academic or social. For example confidence and stress management are big key points that I focus on and each of my lessons incorporates those skills in the lesson.
