    About Mathew D.

From classical concertos to progressive fusion rock, Mathew has many notches in his musical belt. With his guitar on his shoulder, he entertains audiences with high energy and passion. He has performed in St. Louis, MO and in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN as a solo artist and in many groups. As a solo act, he serenades cocktail lounges and private events with the silky sounds of a nylon string. With bands, his electrified sound brings a new balance to grace and grit. As a magna cum laude graduate from McNally-Smith College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, Mathew is passionate about teaching. He shares his love of theory and technique with all of his students who range in age and skill level. *** Lesson Details *** Students of mine quickly learn one thing: the lessons are always about YOU! I am a fun-loving teacher who encourages his students to bring in songs and material they want to learn. Don't know where to start? No problem! I also emphasize proper technique and knowledge of music from the novice student to the college level. Students can expect to learn songs and work from books such as "Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book I" and "A Modern Method for Guitar" by Berklee Press. Students will also gain insight to Ear Training and Music Theory *** Studio Equipment *** In my home studio I have guitars, amps, a piano, a bass guitar and bass amp, microphones, recording equipment, drum machine, and cables. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide guitars (acoustic and electric), amps, and a music stand if need be. I prefer students to have their own guitar and amp if needed. I expect students to have chairs and a space for lessons if I am teaching in their home. *** Specialties *** I am knowledgeable in Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Fusion styles of music. I Know the William Leavitt method for guitar, and am familiar with many Hal Leonard and Mel Bay guitar books. I also know Common Practice Theory and Jazz Music Theory
