    I took trumpet and music theory lessons from Mr Talley He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. I highly recommend him and look forward to my next lesson from him.

    My brother took lessons from Mr. Talley before me, and when I got into Band I started too.  Thanks to Mr. Talley I  made 1st chair in the Region Band twice on Tuba.  When I switched to Euphonium in high school, he was right there helping me with the change from Tuba.  I made the Region Band again on a new instrument only a few weeks after I switched, and he was the reason why.  He always seemed to know exactly what I needed to do to get better.  Even now, years later, I can still call him any time and ask him about music and he always helps me.

    My mom made me take lessons from Mr. Talley when I was a little kid because my brothers loved him so much.  I thought he was kind of crazy at first, but when I started doing the things he said I got WAY better.  Now I can see what he was doing – he just knew EVERYTHING about trombone, so I got really good.  Even though I don’t play in band any more since I graduated high school, I still sometimes get my instrument out and play for fun.  I always hear his crazy sayings in my head, which makes me enjoy it.  You should sign up – my mom always said he was worth every penny because he helped her raise us into good people.  I didn’t get that when I was a kid, but I understand now.  He taught me more than music – he taught me how to think smarter.

    Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
