Learn VocalTechniques with a Professional Classical Singer

The process of unlocking, discovering, and understanding your voice is an intimate and exciting process and I love to partner with my students on this journey. I have had incredible teachers in my life who have inspired me tremendously, and it is my goal to build a trusting relationship with my students in this same way. I truly believe that anybody can sing, and I realize how important it is that my students feel comfortable and safe trying out new things and expressing vulnerability. Lessons will be completely individualized within the framework of learning a healthy vocal technique and a mix of healthy vocal repertoire. We will work together to meet your goals and find your unique voice. My experience is in working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults of all ages and backgrounds. We have worked on a wide range of vocal genres, styles, languages, repertoire and topics. I cannot wait to meet you! Specialties: Beginners, young singers, students with learning disabilities as well as students with anxiety, and students interested in body awareness through yoga.

The process of unlocking, discovering, and understanding your body and voice is an intimate and exciting process. I love to partner with my students on this journey; I have been so lucky to have incredible teachers in my life who give me so much inspiration. I've worked with complete beginners to working professionals, and I strive to create a welcoming and nurturing learning environment where it is safe to learn, practice, and be vulnerable. I also believe that singing should be fun! I completed my Master of Music from Mannes School of Music in New York City and have two bachelor's degrees: a Bachelor of Music in Voice from Pacific Lutheran University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Pacific Lutheran University. Lessons will be completely individualized within the framework that we mutually agree on together. We will work collaboratively to meet your goals and find your unique voice. Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I cannot wait to meet you! ***

Marissa is an excellent teacher. She has been teaching my eleven-year-old who is just starting out with voice (and was feeling very nervous). Marissa did a great job of helping her feel at ease, and working with her. She says that Marissa is always kind and friendly and she's learning a lot.

I had never taken a voice lesson in my life prior to working with Marissa. Wow, what a fantastic instructor. She has taught me more than I ever thought was possible, and she is also such a genuine and supportive teacher. The absolute best.
