Hi! I'm Marissa and I'm a professional NYC-based actor, writer, and director. BFA: NYU. / We'll work as a team to reach your performance goals, whether that be for an audition, for a show, or for just for yourself. We'll call attention to breath, vocal technique, physicality and movement, and intention and script/monologue analysis. However, lessons will be catered to your unique self.

My approach to teaching my students is not a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Rather, I carefully examine each students' strengths and interests, and create lesson plans that combine those to address areas of improvement and holistic growth. A student knows themself best; my mission is to assist them on their journey towards bringing their gifts and talents to the forefront.

In being not only a professional actor, but a director and writer for the stage and film/tv, my lessons come with a unique perspective that holistically elevates your acting.

About Marissa Joyce S.

Hi there! My name is Marissa (she/her/hers) and I'm a Haitian-American NYC-based actor, writer, and director whose mission is to create vortexes that center, celebrate and amplify marginalized narratives.

In addition to being an artist, I have experience working in educational and educational arts spaces in NYC schools and with the non-profit arts organization Actionplay.

My approach to teaching my students, whether it be for acting or essay writing, is not a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Rather, I carefully examine each students' strengths and interests, and create lesson plans that combine those to address areas of improvement and holistic growth. A student knows themself best; my mission is to assist them on their journey towards bringing their gifts and talents to the forefront.

Marissa is one of the best people to help with essay writing. She really helps me think critically about what I am writing and is a great editor! Marissa has helped me perfect research papers, creative writing pieces, and even short essays.

Marissa is a brilliant acting coach! She truly takes the time to help her students understand the art of acting and prepare their scenes. 10/10 would recommend!

Marissa is super attentive to detail, especially because she vocalizes the questions that should be asked when breaking down the writing process. She thinks critically about how every part of the piece is suppose to connect with and progress the story/thesis forward. Because she has also been exposed to different kinds of writing styles and formats (playwright, screenplay structures, essays, etc.), she is well versed in the distinct criteria it takes to complete each. Also, it helps that she is a total sweetheart :)
