As a pianist-educator, I have experience teaching in Universities and other professional and community environments. While the ability of each student may vary, what I strive to accomplish for my students stays constant: to be a good role model, bring out the best in each student and help them achieve their full potential while providing them with the necessary skills to be successful professionally and personally in their musical endeavors.I seek to create a safe, stimulating, exciting and non-judgmental learning environment for each student. One that invites students to ask questions, take risks, express themselves and reach a high level of creativity, all while cultivating an attitude of professionalism. I aim to foster a nurturing and positive teaching environment so that my students gain confidence in their capabilities. By giving positive feedback with constructive criticism, I present learning as an art of becoming, not as an end result. One of my main pedagogical goals is to guide my students to be affective communicators of music. Fostering students’ s intellectual curiosity in various disciplines such as music history, art and literature, this knowledge will enhance their critical thinking, and therefore will deepen their understanding of musical style and context.Since lessons take up only a fraction of a student’s time, I teach effective methods of practicing in order to optimize results.
