I am passionate about French and all things French and I love helping students learn or improve their skills. I explain things clearly so that students understand, I am patient and I make learning French fun rather than a chore. It can be intimidating to learn another language and I understand that very well as I have been improving my French since I was in high school. I structure my lesson plans specifically around what a student wants to learn and how s/he wants to learn it. We will go as slow or fast through the material as you'd like, I was a French major in college, did graduate work in France, worked for a French company and taught middle school French for many years. I loved being a teacher and I loved my students! I led several student trips to France and I treasure those experiences. One of my former French students wrote to me when I retired: "You are the best teacher I ever had. You and your class were the only bright spots in all of middle school and I will never forget what you taught me." I have also taught adults planning to travel to France or who are simply interested the basics of the language as well as cultural tips. I would love to meet and help you!

I wanted to learn French for a business trip, but I was dreading it because I struggled with languages so much in high school. After working with Marianne, I was pleasantly surprised with how much easier it was than I expected. She really adapted to me and helped me figure out the best ways to learn. And she's very patient. Highly recommend!

Incroyable! Marianne has the patience of a saint! She loves French and teaching and it shows in how she worked with me. I really appreciate her creative approach in making the language come to life which makes it so much easier. And she tailors her lessons to what you want and how you best learn. If you want to learn French, I highly recommend working with Madame Bohr!

Madame Bohr is by far one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. She truly cares about her students, and does everything that she can to make sure that they fully comprehend the material. She made learning French not only simple and straight-forward, but even fun. I would most definitely recommend her to anybody interested in learning the language!
