I am a professional Spanish/English linguist, teacher, interpreter, and translator. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Saint Joseph's University, a pre-pharmacy post-bac from Temple University, a TESOL degree from Trinity College London, a Masters in Hispanic Studies with a concentration in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Cádiz, Spain along with complimentary Masters coursework in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca, and I am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at the University of Cádiz in Linguistics. An eternal student, languages are a passion of mine. Students learning Spanish or who require ESL instruction can expect to speak the target language during the first lesson and will see improvement as time progresses. Every student is unique and achieves language proficiency through an organized study plan as well as free time activities which can take the form of language learning apps, music, books, film, and personal contact with speakers of the target language. I teach Spanish and English to students of all different ages and experience levels. My experience ranges from teaching Spanish to native bilinguals in the USA from the age of 3 years and older, primary, middle and high school Spanish to English speakers in an American school to teaching English to speakers of other languages to all levels and ages in a private academy setting in Spain. As a professional linguist I have extensive experience in the Translation and Interpreting field, having intertwined both practices of teaching and interpreting for the past 2 decades. I have interpreted in medical, legal, business, industry, insurance, trials and artistic settings. I bring my real-world experience to the lessons to show the language through its culture and help every student have a personal connection with the language they wish to learn. I love to guide students who wish to develop into effective, dynamic speakers of English or Spanish. Mastering a language is attained through pursuing one's own interests and having a seasoned instructor add structure and balance to your particular foreign language learning.
