I've been teaching piano privately and in group settings for eight years. I strive to create a fun and exciting environment to fit each student's learning style and goals. In my home studio I have an upright piano as well as an 88 key weighted keyboard. I enjoy using technology in my lessons and believe it is a great way to keep students excited. In addition to using the Faber Piano Adventures and Bastien methods, I use a few mobile applications on my tablet to assist in the learning of rhythm and note reading.
About Mariana L.

Born in Panama City, Panama, Mariana completed a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory and completed a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy at the Catholic University of America with an emphasis in Latin American Music in 2009. She has sung on the stages of Italy and Spain participating in performances of Die Zauberfl te, L'Elisir d'Amore and La Traviata. Mariana has sung in the DC area with Zarzuela Di Si and the In Series as well as The City Choir of Washington and The Washington Chorus. As a voice teacher, Mariana has experience teaching students of all ages but mostly children and teenagers. Her approach is simple yet effective, speaking in terms that are easy for each individual student to understand and remember. *** Lesson Details *** Students will develop a strong vocal technique and build healthy vocal habits. They will learn all aspects needed to become a well rounded singer: diction, interpretation, musicianship, breath support and focus, all of this while having fun! Also, they will acquire the tools to keep up the work they've done during their lessons in the time between meetings with the teacher. Pianists will learn to read music and play by ear while acquiring a healthy technique to avoid any injuries. *** Studio Equipment *** You'll be learning to play on a beautiful Kawai upright piano. *** Travel Equipment *** I own a traveling keyboard but prefer to use a larger instrument if available at the student's home. I also provide musical scores and the use of metronome. *** Specialties *** Classical, pop, musical theatre, rock

Mariana was a wonderful, inspiring and intensely focused individual whose dedication to her work shows in every lesson. She was the best teacher I ever had and you are missing out if you don't take a class with her! Absolutely incredible person!
