Born into a family of singers and surrounded since birth by music and the arts, Maris Todaro, not surprisingly, is a singer and art entrepreneur, stage director, stunt artist, librettist, choir director, and co-founder/CEO of The Phoenicia International Festival of The Voice, which just concluded its triumphant seventh season.
A Baroque and Rossini specialist heard as Angelina in La Cenerentola, Helena in  La Donna del Lago,  and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Europe and the U.S., Todaro has also been heard in such standard-repertory roles as Carmen, Musetta in La Boheme, Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte, and in the title role of La Perichole. She was the lead singer in the Art and Ecstasy of the Chaconne with the Sinfonia New York Baroque Orchestra, performed  Leonora in the world premiere performance of Alessandro Scarlatti’s Il Trionfo del Onore at Symphony Space NY, and recently performed in Alexander Nevski and subsequently as the lead alto in Mahler’s Second Symphony with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic under the direction of Randall Fleischer.
Maria Todaro created the role of Elvire, written especially for her,  in the world premiere of Eric Perre’s M’as Tu Vu at the Theatre Traversiere in Paris, and she sang La Cantate pour la Paix, also written expressly for her, by Bernard Lallement under the baton of the composer for UNESCO  in Paris.
During a nine-month period at  the Theater Traversiere in Paris, Todaro performed her one-woman show KILUNISAN, which she both created and directed, and in which she sings twelve different operatic arias by such diverse composers as Mozart, Rossini, and Bernstein.
She has performed solo recitals at the festivals of Baalbeck  (Lebanon), Vaison-la-Romaine (France), Portival (Belgium), and the opening recital at Wratislavia Cantans (Poland).
Maria Todaro can be heard on the album Echoes From Earth on Sony records.
Upcoming engagements include the creation of the role of  Milady  in Les Trois Mousquetaires, a role written for her by composer Mitchell Bach, descendant of  J.S. Bach.
She is the co-author with Michelle Jennings of an operatic comedy, The Benefit, which the two perform under the joint name Divas Unleashed.

Maria is a dedicated and gifted teacher. The lessons are fun and I always come away better than when I arrived. She is helping me build a really solid technique and makes hard things seem easy. My range has increased nearly an octave on the top and bottom. Her ability with languages is an immense advantage. She has made e love singing in a new and wonderful way.

I've been studying piano with Maria for six years. Context: I'm a retired college dean/professor who had last taken piano lessons in 1952 (I'm now 74). Maria, who is herself a very accomplished singer and pianist, never failed to challenge and support me. Her knowledge of technique and theory is unsurpassed but she is also amazingly intuitive, always knowing what, in my own personality, was getting in the way. Thanks to her, music is now my passion and I get immense satisfaction from playing as well as singing. BYW, I'm also in Maria choral group and I have taken voice lessons from her. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

It has been a privilege to have Maria Todaro as my voice teacher for the last 5 years. I had never studied voice before, though I have a degree in music, as a flute major. Of course, I was very nervous to sing, but Maria elevates everything around her to a higher plane. Her generous nature comes together with the depth of her professional background as a performer and as a teacher to give the richest possible experience to her students. Creativity and patience are in her toolbox, plus an enormous range of knowledge of repertoire, style and of course, the mechanics of the voice. Maria works with each student to find the best in their/our voices, finding music that allows us to learn and grow, and giving opportunities to perform. Amazingly, she is also an accomplished pianist and is able to support us in that way as well.
