    About Maria P.

    4.9
    (36)
Maria was born in Moscow, Russia. Her mother was a piano teacher and started Maria playing at 4. She studied at the legendary Moscow Conservatory with Victor Merzhanov. In the US, she won the Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition and debuted with the Symphony performing Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto. She earned her Bachelor's of Music at the University of Houston. For her Master's, she studied organ at Rice University with the world-famous teacher Clyde Holloway. She won many national competitions, including Gruenstein Memorial Organ Competition in Chicago and San Antonio Pipe Organ Competition. The Russian School of Playing has produced some of the world's greatest pianists. This method is fun and lays down the foundation for a relaxed way of playing, which gives confidence and technical security, while enabling one to produce beautiful "singing" tone on the piano. This helps students of all ages to take their piano-playing to new heights.

Very kind, patient and helpful with learning Russian. She ensures everything is perfect, to pronunciation and stresses of words, very helpful so no bad habits form.

Maria is a wonderful teacher! She is professional, patient, and was great at finding a connection between us and understanding my reason for learning the piano! I would highly recommend her to aspiring pianists of any level.

Maria is teaching me the "Russian" technique. I have a slew of bad habits to change. So, she's got her work cut out for her :). But, if you want to transform yourself from a "stick-figure" piano plunker to a fleshed out pianist known for their ability to communicate the emotion of a piece to an audience, Maria is your teacher.
