I am a an experienced elementary school teacher with 4 years experience, who was also the team leader of mathematics study at my school. I graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy, with minors in Writing and Peace and Justice Studies. With respect to math, students can expect to improve week to week in their ability to use higher level math strategies, show neat and organized work, and interpret word problems more effectively. In writing, I offer grammar and basic instruction on how to build a sentence and how to form paragraphs. However, I also can assist with forming well supported written responses that include a claim and several pieces of evidence to support the claims. I am well-versed in teaching extended response and essay writing as well. With reading, I work on students with accuracy, fluency, and comprehension based upon what they need. I am also well-versed in strategies and best practices that can help students master their reading state exams, where they will have to read passages and answer multiple choice questions afterwards. I can help any student to master these subjects with freedom and confidence. I teach students of all different elementary school ages and grade levels.
