I am a professional vocalist, pianist, and guitarist. Having played many lead roles including Princess Jasmine, Mrs. Lovett, and Peter Pan (to name a few) in my musical theatre journey, I want to teach my students how they can do the same by getting the lead role in their next audition! Not only have I performed in lead roles, I have also lead worship at several churches, accompanying myself on the acoustic guitar and/or piano/keyboard. I enjoy playing an array of other instruments as well including the violin, ukulele, mandolin, flute, saxophone, djembe, and whatever else I can get my hands on. (I love music!) I have sung in Carnegie Hall, and have toured South Africa on a musical service learning opportunity with the elite choir at Mississippi College, Singers. I have performed on stage longer than I can remember, and am the third generation of piano teachers in my family. In my classroom (whether online or in-person), students can expect a comfortable and encouraging atmosphere in their lessons where mistakes can be had, but corrections will be made in both a respectful and caring way. I am here to encourage and correct, not to criticize. All lessons begin with music theory training. Whether you are learning to sing, play the piano or guitar, music theory is the foundation of learning to play all music. The lesson will then go into the lesson curriculum I require for the specific instrument, and will then continue to the student’s performance pieces. Piano lessons have an added bonus at each lesson which includes a time of improvisation with the teacher!
