Learn to sing with a Grammy winning opera singer with 25+ years of college teaching
My teaching is unique because I bring extensive knowledge from my education (BM in education, MM in vocal performance with an emphasis in opera) along with 20 years professional singing experience in opera throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. I taught at the prestigious liberal arts’ university, Miami University, for 24 years, working with undergraduate and graduate singers. During my singing career, I was honored with an Emmy, Grammy and won many vocal competitions. For my teaching, I was also recognized by my colleagues as a Distinghished Educator Finalist in 2002 and 2003. I was the Director and Producer of the national award winning MU Opera Program and was the Chair of the voice area. I now act as an adjudicator for several important high school competitions and was named Emerita Professor by Miami.
About Mari O.

I have been a professional opera singer and Master voice teacher for 25 years. I sang leading roles throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. I was in the original cast of Nixon in China which won an Emmy, Grammy and Best of Year recording.Being a mezzo soprano, I specialized in pants’ roles and other high mezzo parts. As a teacher, I strive to teach my students a strong technique, always working on proper posture and efficient breathing. I work well with high school juniors and seniors preparing for college auditions and scholarships. Having been the Chair of the voice area at my university, I understand what students need to do to present themselves in a professional, competitive manner.
