    About Margaux V.

Margaux (born in Brussels, Belgium) is a pianist, a composer and a singer. With a mixed and complete musical training : classic training (piano, music theory) for more than 10 years, chorist at the Youth Choir of Royal Opera La Monnaie, piano jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Margaux is carrying out several ongoing projects. She founds the quartet PINTO in 2012 and offers a bitter-sweet, delicate, bright and appealing jazz. The band wins the Audience Prize in the scope of the Brussels Jazz Marathon contest in 2014. PINTO finishes its monthly residency at the Sounds Jazz Club with a critical and public success at the Mithra Jazz festival in Liège in 2015. Margaux also writes the music of the long-feature "Les Liberterres" (released in Brussels in August 2015). The movie is being regularly broadcasted in France, Canada, Switzerland and Belgium. In 2016, she receives a grant from the Fondazione Siena Jazz to take part in the Siena Jazz International Summer Workshop with teachers such as David Binney, Stefano Battaglia, Jeff Ballard, Matt Penman, Ben Wendel, Aaron Parks and many more. She recently graduated from a M.M. in Contemporary Performance at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (Boston, USA) with Danilo Perez and an impressive array of faculty including John Patitucci, Adam Cruz, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, and George Garzone among others. The Global Jazz Institute is an intensive program which awards full-tuition grants to all participants who in turn must complete a Master’s degree in one year. When Margaux teaches, she keeps in mind that every student has different needs and different ways of learning. She creates an environment of mutual respect and empathy in which students can find their own voice and develop their creativity. One of the most important things for her, as a teacher, is to share her passion, to communicate her enthusiasm, and to give students the motivation for learning.
