Experienced, skilled, and joyful visual art teacher works with all ages to support artistic development. I connect with students to create a safe place where they develop their technical art making skills, personal creative vision, or making art for the sheer joy making something beautiful and pleasing.

I asked my students what makes class with me unique and here are some of their words:

"It's like my weekly art party! Full of laughter and energy!" --Winnifred, student, age 67

"I feel like a real artist." Josh, student, age 12

"Maggie is a masterful teacher, guiding her students through rigorous studio practices to foster a deep and lasting love for making art" -Barbara, friend and fellow teaching artist

I am skilled in teacher in multiple media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, 3d design/sculpture, paper making, book making, collage, ceramics, art history, and crafts.

Other skills: mentoring new teachers, curriculum development, staff training, and professional development workshops for corporate and non-profit organizations.

I took painting lessons about 10 years ago and haven’t done anything since. I brought a 1/2 finished painting. Maggie was great helping me set up and seeing where I was and what I remembered. Then showed me some techniques to help get me going. I’m looking forward to our next lesson.

Maggie is an exceptional teacher who has her classroom management skills down to a tee. It’s amazing to watch her command a classroom full of children while remaining sweet and never losing her cool. She was a great mentor and I learned a lot about art education from her!
