Cello with Margaret K.

I started playing cello at the age of 10 and have been an avid player ever since. I have participated in numerous camps and festivals around the world and believe that playing music leads to fantastic friendships and personal growth. As a classically trained cellist, I use classical fundamentals to teach students proper technique alongside a passion for incorporating cello into their daily lives. Recently, I have been playing electric cello with different music groups in different styles and have recorded with rock, math-rock, indie, folk and hip-hop artists. My main goal is to show students how much fun playing music can be and how cello can be used in classical and non-classical settings. A lot of my students have loved learning how to play along with their favorite music! *** Lesson Details *** We must chat on the phone BEFORE THE FIRST LESSON. I want to hear more about you and your goals so that I can come prepared. Lessons should be fun, engaging and exciting. Students will learn something new every visit! I focus on proper technique, intonation, competition preparation, sight reading, chamber music, basic music theory and duets (my favorite!). I can also introduce students to electric cello with various looping, distortion and effect pedals. Each student has their own goals and learning styles and I love using those to inspire a love for cello.
