    About Margaret A.

I’ve been actively teaching throughout the greater Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Dexter and Plymouth areas. While most of my students are Late elementary- high school aged, I’ve also taught masterclasses at the Collegiate level and have a few adult students so anyone at any level is welcome and encouraged! My teaching philosophy is all about fostering a lifelong passion for music, and help you grow as a person, not just get better at the clarinet! I will work with you to pick out music You are excited to play, and help you develop the skills you want to expand on. Students can expect to see growth week to week through lessons and remember that old saying “practice makes perfect”? Well, that phrase has probably stuck around for so long because there’s a little bit of truth to it.... but don’t worry! I’ll make sure in our lessons to go over the best practice strategies specific to you. Each student is unique. I earned a Specialist Degree and Masters Degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Michigan and her Bachelors degree in Clarinet Performance from Western Michigan University. I love to perform wherever and whenever I get the chance, but my highlights include performing with the Lima Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, Mississippi Symphony, Michigan Philharmonic, Toledo Ballet Theater, Aepex Contemporary Ensemble, ArcaSonica, OperaMODO, Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Symphony Orchestra and University of Michiagan GIlbert and Sullivan Society. She also has an active love of small chamber music and has several groups she plays with. On an international level, I was a 2017 finalist in the International Clarinet Association Orchestral Competition and traveled abroad with MayaOpera International Music Festival.
