Marcus Shaw, a horn player of 9 years, has won positions in numerous music festivals, including The New York All State Concert Band and Orchestra, and NAFME’s All Eastern Orchestra Festival. Marcus regularly performs with the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, in such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Marcus has also performed internationally, touring Guatemala, Germany, and Ireland. Marcus is continuing his study of music remotely as he prepares for college auditions. Marcus Shaw has been teaching private lessons for over two years, focusing on students' improvement of the fundamentals of horn playing, knowledge of music theory and history, and preparation for auditions and competitions. He is currently available to teach lessons online, and hopes to work with you or your horn student soon!

Marcus is a very skilled and very knowledgeable horn player and teacher. He is very friendly and easy to talk to. It is difficult to find a teacher that can articulate and describe how to play the horn as clearly and precisely as he does. you’re in good hands with Marcus!

Marcus’s musical intuition is amazing. He was able to articulate some of my troubles playing and provide me with new tools to work on them. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to improve any aspect of their playing. Bonus: he’s super nice and eases any nervousness you might having playing in front of people.
