I love playing music, and I've spent my whole life doing it. I am very passionate about sharing my love and deep knowledge of music with others. Let's figure out how you can express your self and learn a great skill through the language of music! *** Specialties *** I specialize in Jazz and Classical Styles on the Upright Bass. Electric Bass (rock, funk, soul, pop, etc), and guitar. Long Version: Marcus B. is a performing and teaching artist specializing in acoustic upright bass, electric bass, guitar, and songwriting. Growing up in a musical family, Marcus’ entire life has been intertwined with music. Marcus received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Jazz Bass from California Institute of the Arts. At Cal Arts Marcus had the honor of studying under world renowned jazz musicians Charlie Haden, Darek Oles, Joe LaBarbera, and Larry Koonse. I am so thankful to have found Marcus as my bass instructor; he is the exact type of teacher I was looking for. His training and love for music were evident upon first meeting him. I have learned so much in the short time I have been taking lessons. He is a very patient and passionate teacher.

All around wonderful teacher Marcus is quite the gifted teacher. By far the best I've had the pleasure to aspire under. He is very easy to understand, and doesn't overwhelm you, taking time on the little things (the most important). He creates an atmosphere that is encouraging to learn in. We all know those teachers that create a stressful environment that inhibits progressive learning, as well as frustration in yourself. Marcus is certainly the opposite. He is also quite easy to communicate with--Creating lesson plans, setting goals, etc... In summation, a professional and a friend I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
