Learn from someone who's a musician working at the highest level. I can give you insight on what it takes to work with some of the world's highest profile artists, on big Hollywood film and TV shows or in the studio with legendary musicians. My "custom" approach to teaching is to first learn about the student's interests and then shape my lessons around those. If a student wants to learn Funk guitar for example we can use that as the starting point to talk about rhythm, ear training, right hand technique, we can talk about how to read and write the music they are learning and get into the history of that music. If a student is better suited to learn from books there are different methods I follow depending on the student, I'm happy to structure lessons that way as well.

    Experience

    Guitarist, Background Vocalist

    Feb, 2011 - Present

    Michael Bublé

I'm currently working with Michael Bublé and have been for the last seven years. In that time I've played on every TV and film performance of his, nationally and internationally, and every live performance of his, public and private. We have toured the world together a few times playing 10,000-20,000 seat venues and collaborated with artists like Van Morrison, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, Mary J Blige - to name a few. My main job in this group is playing the primary guitar role which covers a wide range of styles, from Pop to Rock and Roll to singer-songwriter type songs to straight ahead Jazz/Big Band playing. I also sing backgrounds on the Pop material, play occasional percussion parts and I have covered auxiliary keyboard parts of a couple of our runs.

    Guitar Instructor, Ensemble Instructor

    Aug, 2008 - Sep, 2010

    Shepherd University, Los Angeles

As a guitar instructor I taught a number of students in a private lesson setting, on campus at the University. Every student had different needs so our lessons varied greatly from person to person, my job was to make sure all of the students had a level of musicianship - and proficiency on the guitar in particular - that would allow them an opportunity to work as guitarists in the real world. As the ensemble teacher I led a group class comprised of different instrumentalists and singers, we would choose a musical style and learn material as a group culminating in the student concert recital at the end of the given semester. This would change every class, I tried my best to keep the material in line with the students' interests. On one semester we focused on Brazilian music, on another the class was built around the music of Stevie Wonder, etc. Shepherd University, Los Angeles is, to my knowledge, not existent anymore. It was a Korean-run institution offering college-level education, largely attended by Korean students studying abroad (though not exclusively).

    Guest Lecturer

    Mar, 2008 - Present

    University of California, Los Angeles

I've been invited to come in as a guest lecturer many times and I still am presently. Years ago I used to come in to lecture about a specific subject (like Brazilian music or my experience playing with a specific artist) at a guitar class led by Brandon Mayer, currently I am invited by Mike Shapiro to lecture at his Studio Recording class.

    Guitar Instructor

    Aug, 2004 - Jul, 2008

    South Pasadena Music Center

I taught private guitar lessons on campus at the school. The students we mostly children ages 6 through 16, some were adults ranging from their 20's through their 60's. I had many students here, at my busiest time I was teaching about 30 people each week.

    Guitarist

    Sep, 1999 - Present

    Marcel Camargo

Prior to joining Michael Bublé I did some touring with Macy Gray, Missy Higgins, Inara George, The Watson Twins and a number of other artists. I'm currently the musical director for singer Gretchen Parlato. I also work a lot in the studio, I'm the featured guitar player on the TV show Dexter, the movie Rio 2, I also played on the show Supernatural and the movie Pitch Perfect 3. I'm now working on Sergio Mendes' forthcoming record, I worked with him on his record "Magic" as well, I play on Herb Alpert's "Come Fly With Me" and Van Morrison's duet with Michel Bublé "Real Real Gone."
