I am an actress with the Masters Degree in acting and I will teach you how to properly speak and pronounce Croatian. I have been teaching and volunteering for a long time and I can make learning what seems to be a difficult language for some, to be fun! We will also be learning conversational Croatian in a standard accent, grammar, writing, creative writing if your language skills are advanced. About me I am a native Croatian speaker with MA in acting and I have training in voice, speech and writing. Languages are my passion and a hobby. I moved to Los Angeles 9 years ago and I love comparing languages and culture. Along with Croatian and English I also speak Italian and German and I recently started learning Spanish. Croatia is a small but gorgeous country with about 4 million people. But it has so many accents that northern part like Varazdin and southern part like Dubrovnik have totally different accents. We could roughly divide Croatian accents into three groups, using the word “What” which is said in three different ways. Sto (which is the standard used predominantly in East), Kaj (which is Zagreb and northern parts of Croatia) and Ca (used predominantly on the coastal part of Croatia). Depending on your level we will learn the standard Croatian accent which is Sto. If you speak advanced level of Croatian language we will learn and play with other accents as well. I want you to go out of my class with the realization that you learned something new. I believe that solely attending my classes is not enough, you will have to do your homework, as well. I learned other languages and I know that it can be overwhelming and it will look look like the more you learn the less you know, especially at the beginning. But that is a phase you must push through. Once you finally start to talk and form real sentences, for the joy of that feeling, believe me - hard work will pay off.
