Arrangement & Composition lessons with a professional composer and teacher

I have always been something of a mathematician at heart, and I believe in teaching students to apply that sort of methodical critical thinking to all aspects of music. I believe that music education should be goal-oriented, but that there are certain aspects of music that are fundamental whether the student wants to play funk, modern extreme metal, or to write the next atonal masterpiece. To this end, I always meet my students where they are and focus on where they want to go, addressing these fundamentals in a way that will be engaging for all. I encourage students to delve into theory and technique deeply enough that they shift from being sets of rules to being a framework and a tool that can be used (and abused) as needed, and I seek to help my students build the mental and physical roadmaps that they need to achieve this goal. I also teach lessons specifically designed to help students build confidence and understanding on extended range guitars.
