I am graduate of Samford University with a degree in Music Composition and Piano Performance. I will be continuing my education by pursuing my Master in Composition at the Longy School of Music at Bard. I have studied classical piano and composition for 9 years and actively study, perform, and write classical and contemporary music. I was a 3 year member of an internationally acclaimed A Cappella vocal ensemble. This past year we toured the Baltics and received the top honors Grand Prix award - as well as 5 others - in Lithuania. I have written music for short film, have had my classical work performed by groups such as Sybarite 5, The Amernet String Quartet, and numerous professional music faculty and students. I have had my own personal songs (singer/songwriter) played by radio stations from Maryland to New York, and was a guest artist on WTMD's Baltimore Hit Parade in 2015 - performing and getting to talk about my and other music as well. I am also currently in a popular electronic music duo called the Halter Kids, based out of Birmingham, Alabama.

I firmly believe in fostering an intrinsic love and passion for music in students as well as teaching them the fundamental skills that will allow them to progress effficiently and quickly. In studying both Piano and Composition, students will have the benefit of receiving lessons structured not only around keyboard pedagogy but how to reach their full creative potential in writing as well.

Each students is different and it is important to meet them where they are and tailor the lessons in a fashion that is best for them. That could look like lessons focused on classical music technique and repertoire, practice methods, sight reading, or music theory. Or more contemporary methods such as reading from lead sheets, more improvisatory exercises, ear training, and writing music. Whatever fits the student best is the quickest path to getting them to understand and love this art.

I am open to working with students of all ages, experience, and goals. I am a musician of Classical Performance, Composition, Jazz, Songwriting and Singing, but regardless of the genre am extremely passionate about teaching students to find their own path and voice as a musician!
