Hello! My name is Lynn and I am excited to meet some new students. My background is in classical flute and jazz saxophone (BM in Flute performance/Jazz Studies at Michigan State University in '06, MM in Jazz Studies at MSU in '08). I would also be comfortable teaching jazz flute and beginner saxophone or piano lessons. For the past year, I have taught one of my students via Skype and have really enjoyed it. Although I enjoy performing, teaching is really my passion. I love catering to an individual student's needs and desires and seeing them get excited about music and gain self confidence as they get better. One of the tools I use to individualize lessons is Finale Notation Software--with this I can create exercises or lead sheets for students and send them quickly over email or even Skype. I love to write and am proficient at transcribing from an audio recording to make written music for a student.

Having worked with Lynn at The Calhoun School for several years, I have had the pleasure of watching Lynn with students in middle- and high-school. She is a dedicated musician and teacher. She sincerely enjoys working with students at all levels, inspiring each to do their best, they're inspired to practice and to do their best. We will miss her greatly from our school's jazz program. Lynn is one of those truly gifted performers and artists who can expertly teach.

My son studied with Lynn for 2+ years in high school and LOVED her! He has since been accepted into a college on a music scholarship and we all know that Lynn was instrumental in making this happen. He doesn't want to be a professional musician, but he was inspired by Lynn's enthusiasm and commitment to musicianship. Lynn is a consummate musician. She is an expert arranger, works brilliantly with young people as well as older students. We completely and enthusiastically recommend Lynn!!

Lynn taught our teenage daughter both flute and saxophone for several years. She was endlessly patient with the ups and downs that come with teenagers, extraordinarily inventive in keeping our daughter interested and motivated, and found ways to give her the sense that she, too, was part of the process. She also has a wonderful sense of humor and found a way to make it all fun, even the practicing. She's a superb teacher!
