My name is Luke Walstead and I am passionate about teaching music.
I have been playing, performing and writing music for 16 years and teaching guitar for the last 5 years.
I teach ages 7 and up and skill levels from beginner to advanced.
I play and teach both electric and acoustic guitar as well as fingerpicking,
traditional flat picking and modern finger-style techniques for both 6 and 7 string guitar.
I play and teach rhythm and lead guitar and am always looking to teach the student music that they enjoy playing.
I also specialize in making theory accessible for those who struggle with traditional methods.
I believe that no two students are the same and and their lessons should be built around their individual needs.
Guitar lessons should be challenging and should push you to be better, but they should also be fun!
I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
And the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSTMA)
The MTNA was founded in 1876 with the goal of advancing the value of music study and music-making to society while supporting the careers and professionalism of teachers of music. With nearly 22,000 members in 50 states—and more than 500 local affiliates—the MTNA is the preeminent source for music teacher support, where members embody like-minded values and commitment to their students, colleagues and society as a whole, while reaping the rewards of collaboration, continuity and connection throughout the lifetime of their careers.
